Work Balance

Time Tracking and Client Reporting

Hours in, client reports out — one backend, desktop, web and mobile.

Work Balance

The system of record for billable work.

Work Balance tracks hours against projects and phases, and turns them into the report a client actually receives. It runs on Java 21 and Spring Boot with Microsoft Entra ID for identity, and ships as a Tauri and Rust desktop client alongside a React Native mobile app.

What it does

Work Balance is the time tracking and client reporting platform behind every Buckler engagement. Consultants log hours against a project and a phase; clients get their own view of what was worked on, without anyone assembling a report by hand.

Platform

A Java 21 and Spring Boot backend, with identity handled by Microsoft Entra ID so client organisations sign in with the accounts they already have.

Desktop and mobile

The desktop client is built with Tauri and Rust — a native binary measured in megabytes rather than an embedded browser. Mobile is React Native. One backend, three surfaces.

Design discipline

Every screen is built against an approved prototype and a role-based navigation model — no invented fields, no simulated data reaching a user. The constraint sounds small; it is the reason the product and the documentation have never drifted apart.

Integrations

Work Balance signs people in with Microsoft Entra ID, so client organisations use the accounts they already have in Microsoft 365 — no separate user directory to maintain.
